Best Fine Dining
3 of the best restaurants for Fine Dining on Koh Samui
Koh Samui, Thailand’s answer to cosmopolitan luxury. It’s a high-class paradise surrounded by crystal blue waters, beautiful white sandy beaches and exquisite gastronomy.
On the north coast, between Mae Nam on the west and Bang Rak on the east, you’ll find Koh Samui’s quintessential beach Bophut, home to a hotbed of shops, bars and gourmet cuisine accompanied by a stunning ocean view backdrop.
With 27 fine dining restaurants around the fishing village in Bophut alone, offering bountiful European, Asian, Josemar and other global delights. How do you know which to visit as part of your voyage with us? We thought we’d share with you our favorite three (in no particular order!)
1. Chez Francois
Chez Francois provides an intimate setting with handpicked courses instead of the usual à la carte. Visitors refer to Chez Francois as a culinary experience to be reckoned with globally.
The restaurant is named after its chef and owner Francois, who is as much as an attraction to the restaurant as the outstanding cuisine it serves. His passion for every dish shines through in the immaculate presentation and quality of each individual dish.
For a dining experience to tantalize your taste buds, we recommend exploring Chez Francois.
2. ZaZen Resort & Restaurant
ZaZen translates to “seated meditation.” In this elegant setting, overlooking the tranquil, calming blue waters, with gentle jazz softly soothing your ears as you gaze over one of the 100 candles nightly placed around the restaurant.
It’s easy to see why they named the restaurant ZaZen. It’s not just the romantic ambience that sets this superior venue apart, but the perfectly thought-out menu with exquisite entrée treats for the palette. The dishes include the ‘Hispania’, a delicious plate with codfish, chorizo, tomatoes ‘lemon rougail’-style, potatoes and black olive ‘jus’. You can also enjoy the five-spiced duck breast with zucchini and prune stew!
At the height of sophistication with the perfect combination of incredible food and idyllic settings, ZaZen is not to be missed.
3. Barracuda Restaurant
Last, but by no means least, Barracuda, situated on the Wharf at Bophut, flawlessly combines European dishes with an Asian twist producing exquisite results. Immerse yourself in Barracuda’s stylish decor whilst tucking into delicious dishes made with locally-sourced fresh produce and inspired by Mediterranean influences.
Our favorite choice is seared scallops with a cauliflower purée and caper and raisin sauce to start, followed by the melt-in-your-mouth yellow fin tuna steak encompassed in a sesame crust, accompanied by roasted pineapple and Thai asparagus. Let your senses be transported into gastro heaven with the white chocolate and orange fondant, served with delicious chocolate ice cream.
